Topic: Treating Addiction as a Chronic Disease

Speaker: Renee Klaric, UH Medical Center

This event is with Solon, Aurora and Twinsburg Chambers

This topic is geared to educate, motivate and inspire change. It's a topic filled with the highest of highs and lowest of lows and allows you to internally think about your own life, to determine where you, and employees, currently stand. As a business owner its important to understand how this affects your productivity.

You will learn:

  • What addiction is and is not, vs dependence vs substance abuse
  • Addiction is the same as any chronic disease
  • How this effects society
  • How this effects your workforce

Renee Klaric is the Program Manager for University Hospitals Addiction Services. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor and a Clinical Supervisor.
She has spent most of her career improving the services that patients receive in diverse healthcare settings both as a practitioner and a business person. Her experience in program creation, development and implementation has brought her to this opportunity with UH to offer a new and much needed modern perspective of treating addiction as a chronic disease.
