Speaker:  Dr. Gokarna Sharma, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, Kent State University  

The term Blockchain has been gaining media attention all over the country, especially in Northeast Ohio.  But what exactly is it? Learn what it is, how its tied to cryptocurrency/Bitcoin, and its impacts and potential future use in different financial and non-financial sectors.   
​About the Speaker: Gokarna Sharma Ph.D. has been an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Computer Science at Kent State University since August 2015. He has research expertise in parallel and distributed computing systems, algorithms, and data structures. He directs the Scalable Computer Architecture & Emerging Technologies (SCALE) lab that focuses on research in these areas, and blockchain technology is one of the topics of his current research interests. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Louisiana State University.
