Speaker: Dr. Cynthia Deyling, Chief Quality Officer, Cleveland Clinic
Dr. Cynthia Deyling, Cleveland Clinic, Director of Quality & Safety, will be the keynote speaker at the Western Reserve Safety Council (WRSC) Safety Awards and CEO event. Member companies will be recognized for demonstrated safety performance through the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation (BWC) and as well as the people and initiatives that advance safety in their organizations.
Recognizing that improved safety performance is a continuous improvement effort, we will be presnting awards in the following categories:
- Safety Employee of the Year – an individual who champions and advances safety in their organization.
- Safety Innovation – a process improvement, equipment installation or solution that was implemented in 2016 to reduce workplace injuries and illnesses
About Cynthia Deyling, MD, MHCM, FACP
As Chief Quality Officer, Dr. Cindy Deyling oversees all quality, regulatory and risk-management activities across the Cleveland Clinic health system. She and her team support and collaborate with the clinical and support departments to align quality outcomes and patient safety into daily practice. The focus of this work is to make quality and safety patient-centric, clinically relevant, operationally effective, regulatory compliant and academically appealing. Dr. Deyling also currently serves as a member of the Marymount Hospital Board of Trustees.
Prior to her current role as Chief Quality Officer, Dr. Deyling served as Vice President, Regional Medical Affairs, Quality and Patient Safety for the Community Hospitals and Family Health Centers. Dr. Deyling served as Chair of Regional Operations Institute over six years and she served as the Medical Director for the Independence Family Health Center for fifteen years. Dr. Deyling served as Executive Director of Cleveland Clinic Allied Health Education; Vice Chair of Cleveland Clinic health system’s Eastern and Western Board of Trustees and served on the Cleveland Clinic Board of Governors.
A fellow of the American College of Physicians, Dr. Deyling received her medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine, completed her internal medicine residency training at the Cleveland Clinic and earned a master's of healthcare management from Harvard University.
Named one of Cleveland's best physicians since 1997 by Cleveland Magazine and one of America's Best Doctors since 2002, Dr. Deyling has been honored on numerous occasions for her work with patients and fellow physicians and in the community. In 2010 she was the Honoree and Achievement Award recipient for the “Speaking of Women’s Health” conference by the Women’s Professional Staff Association. In 2015, Crain’s Cleveland Business recognized Dr. Deyling’s leadership and honored her as one of Northeast Ohio’s “Women of Note.”
Dr. Deyling resides in Gates Mills with her husband Tony Panzica and she has four children: Michael, Robert, Daniel and Gregory. When not working she enjoys spending time with her family and is an avid gardener.
